If you have ever searched for a flat in Switzerland — flat hunting in Zurich, Bern, Basel, Geneva, or any other city — you know the drill. Open five or six portal tabs every morning. Re-enter the same filters on each one. Scroll through pages of results only to discover half of them are temporary sublets or furnished short-term rentals buried in misleading categories. Every portal has different filter options, different sorting logic, different gaps — and none of them talk to each other.
The platforms could fix this, but they optimise for landlord revenue instead. Promoted listings crowd out genuine matches. Sorting algorithms favour whoever pays the most, not what fits your needs. After all that effort, you still miss listings that appeared on a portal you forgot to check that day.
